It's National School Counseling Week! The 2025 theme is "School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive.” Thriving means growing, succeeding and feeling
fulfilled in all areas of your life, and at GCS, our school counselors work hard to help our students achieve that!

Let's finish off this week with a big shout-out to Cindy Luttrell (Chair), Dr. Craig Shepherd (Vice-Chair), Josh Quillen (Treasurer), Pam Botta, and Crystal Hirschy for all their hard work as #GCS Board members!
We couldn't do it without you!! 🙌 #SchoolBoardAppreciationWeek

The Greeneville City Board of Education has consistently been recognized as a TSBA Board of Distinction. This awards signifies outstanding performance by a school board in planning, policy, promotion, and board development. In addition, each individual GCS Board member is also a Boardsmanship Award recipient! We are so proud and grateful for their time and effort! #SchoolBoardAppreciationWeek🎉

Our Board members are responsible for defining school district policy, approving the curriculum, maintaining school facilities, and adhering to state and federal education laws. Legal concerns and the complexities of school finance, including budgeting and taxation, require them to spend many hours in board training programs and personal study to enhance their understanding of these issues. #SchoolBoardAppreciationWeek

Our incredible GCS Board members, elected by our community, volunteer their time and expertise to oversee a multimillion-dollar budget which impacts approximately 3,000 students and 600+ faculty & staff across our 8 schools. We appreciate their dedication and volunteer spirit in shaping the future of education! . #SchoolBoardAppreciationWeek

The GCS Board goals are: provide excellence and equity in instruction and programs; provide a system of highly qualified world-class faculty and staff; provide a state-of-the-art learning environment; focus expenditures on instruction and provide excellence in school district accounting; and provide excellence and equity in family and community programs. Thank you to our dedicated Board members for your unwavering commitment to achieve these goals! #SchoolBoardAppreciationWeek

It's School Board Appreciation Week in Tennessee! This year's theme, “Leading with Vision, Serving with Purpose”, reminds us to celebrate the unique role our Board plays in building a future for students, championing and advocating for quality education, and governing our schools. Check in each day as we show our appreciation and begin to better understand how school board members work together. #SchoolBoardAppreciationWeek

Celebrating Our School Community! We are bursting with pride over the incredible achievements of our students and staff! From academic excellence to sports victories and outstanding staff contributions, our school community continues to shine brightly. Together we achieve greatness. Greeneville City Schools’ staff will return on Monday, October 14, 2024, for a day of professional development with students returning to school on a regular schedule on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Plans are in place, according to the health department guidelines for food service establishments, for the school cafeterias to safely provide breakfast and lunch each day. We will also provide bottled water to students each day until the boil water notice is lifted. In coordination with the Greene County EMA, there is a contingency plan to provide bottled water for an extended period of time should the boil water notice persist. If parents wish to send additional water for their students, please make sure the bottles are sealed and do not leak. We look forward to resuming normal operations and seeing the return of our amazing students and staff.

This month, we’re celebrating the heart and leadership of our incredible principals!
Their dedication, passion, and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment inspire both students and staff to achieve their best!
