GHS student artists and writers collaborated with Tusculum View's 2nd grade Tigers to create: THE CUTE and THE CURIOUS: A MONSTER EXHIBIT! Mrs. Harmon's second grade classes drew monsters with themes and then Mrs. Redmon's GHS artists created 3-D clay versions of their drawings to give to the second graders. The GHS art and literature students visited Tusculum View to meet with their second-grade artist partners. Literature students wrote poetry to accompany the monster creations. GHS students brought their sculptures, drawings, and creative writings for the upcoming collaboration. They also discussed their artwork processes with the 2nd graders. The students were amazed and excited to see their monster drawings come to life!   Many thanks to collaborating GHS Art and Literature teachers: Rachel Redmon, Stephanie Callahan, and Kimberly Waller. To view this amazing art exhibition, be sure to attend the Tiger Arts Gala on April 7th from 5:30-7:00 at Tusculum View!

GHS Students Take on Public Education Policy! On March 11, four Greeneville High School students ( Xari Roots, Jack Lampe, Reagan Smith, & Trey Bailey) joined peers from across Tennessee in Nashville for the TSBA Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE) at Belmont University! Now in its 42nd year, SCOPE empowers students to speak up on key education issues and brainstorm real-world solutions. During the event, our students stepped into the shoes of school board members, parents, and more in mock board sessions—tackling the tough topics shaping public education. We’re proud of our GHS students for using their voices to make a difference! #GHSProud #StudentVoices #SCOPE2025 #GreenevilleStrong

Empowering Your Child's Reading Strategies for Support. Strategies for Support. Tree with books lining branches
Establish a Reading Routine Have a consistent schedule: set a dedicated reading time. This should be in a quiet and comfortable environment that is free from distractions. Little boy with glasses sits reading a book
Predict and Infer. Use pictures and text clues to help your child make predictions and inferences. Prediction and inferential skill development enhances comprehension and engage your child's imagination. Mother holds little girl and reads together.
Visualization. Visualizing is when readers create mental images based on the text. When reading with your children, ask them to describe what they see in their mind's eye while reading. Monitor meaning throughout the text to ensure it is meaningful and enjoyable to the child.. Little girl lies on her back reading a book
Ask Questions. Before, during, and after reading, ask open-ended questions about the text to promote critical thinking. Ask questions that encourage discussion and deeper understanding of the text. Little girl walking while reading.
Vocabulary Development. The use of context clues helps the reader to understand unfamiliar words. Make sure you discuss the meaning of new words based on the surrounding text. It is a good idea to create a word journal or flashcards for new vocabulary. This can be used later for reinforcement.. Tree with a cut-out library inside
Encouraging Reading Fluency. Model fluent reading for your child. This involves demonstrating smooth and expressive reading, highlighting punctuation and phrasing. Repeated reading builds fluency. Repetition helps improve speed, accuracy and comprehension. Little girl lays on her stomach with head resting on hands while reading a book.
Happy National Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day! Today, we honor the hardworking men who keep our facilities running smoothly and safely. Whether it's keeping us comfortable by maintaining our HVAC units, ensuring our electrical systems run smooth, repainting our buildings, or responding to alarms in the middle of the night, they're always there when we need them. Let's take a moment to appreciate and recognize these unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes. 💪❤️ #MaintenanceWorkerAppreciation #ThankYou #UnsungHeroes #FacilityManagement #GCS #BetterTogether

There is no better feeling than when a child references something I have either taught them in class, or in session, and utilizes it - you know, when the content really impacts and sticks with them!”
