Tusculum View Student Wins 1st Place in 2025-2026 Tennessee Association of School Librarians Bookmark Contest
Over 100 students from across Tennessee submitted an original design for the annual bookmark contest, sponsored by the Tennessee Association of School Librarians.
The theme of this year’s contest is “Color Your World Through Books at Your School Library”.
Student entries were judged by Milan Elementary art teacher, Chelsea Willis in the categories of creativity, execution of the theme, and use of materials.
Tusculum View fourth grader Claire Yi placed first in the Intermediate division. She will receive a $25 Amazon gift card, 50 bookmarks of her design, a poster of her design, and an award certificate.
Her librarian, Nikita Stephens, will receive 200 bookmarks of Claire’s winning design and a poster copy of the design.
Copies of Claire’s bookmark will also be sent to the Tennessee State Legislature and distributed to librarians across the state at the TASL conference this fall.
Ms. Stephens, Tusculum View Media Specialist:
“We are so proud of Claire! She is a very creative student. Over the years, she has participated in all the different artistic opportunities that our school offers, and her entries are always amazing. Claire is also a wonderful representative of our school: hardworking, kind, and demonstrates our TV Tiger virtues! We were able to give a bookmark to all Claire’s fourth grade classmates and share with the staff in our building.
I present this TASL bookmark contest opportunity to fourth and fifth grade students every year. If they choose to participate, students begin their designs in library class but finish in their free time at home, parents give permission to participate, and I mail in their entry. This is Tusculum View’s second Bookmark Contest winner, as we had our first ever winner last year with our current fifth grade student, Totianya Zamora Moore. We are very excited to have two winners from Tusculum View!”
