Greeneville City Schools (GCS) has been recognized by the Tennessee Department of Education as an Exemplary District for the 2024–2025 school year, one of only 14 districts statewide to receive this prestigious designation. This honor reflects the district’s exceptional academic performance and commitment to student success.

In addition to the district-wide recognition, three GCS schools including Hal Henard Elementary, Tusculum View Elementary, and Greeneville High School have been named Reward Schools. Reward School status is awarded to schools that demonstrate strong performance across multiple indicators, including academic proficiency, student growth, and achievement for all student groups.

“Being named an Exemplary District and having three of our schools recognized as Reward Schools is a powerful reflection of the hard work, resilience, and commitment of our students, educators, and staff,” said Steve Starnes, Director of Schools. “We are extremely proud of our schools, our district, and our community for the shared drive they demonstrate each day to ‘Cultivate Minds and Impact Hearts through Equity and Excellence.’ This recognition affirms our belief in the potential of every student and our unwavering dedication to helping them thrive.”
