We are proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Joshua Davis as the next Principal of the Greeneville Career & Technical Academy (GCTA) and District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director, effective July 1, 2025.

Dr. Davis has over twenty-two years of experience in education, including six years as a teacher, two years as an academic coach, and fourteen years as an administrator. He has been honored as both Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year at the district level, reflecting his dedication to excellence in education.

Director of Schools Steve Starnes stated, “Dr. Davis brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and leadership to his new role in Greeneville City Schools. He is deeply committed to ensuring that all students are prepared to be college, career, workforce, and military ready upon graduation from Greeneville High School and the Tennessee Online Public School at Greeneville. His leadership will focus on empowering students to be prepared and confident to OWN their future. We believe that GCTA will continue to thrive and reach new heights under his guidance. Before joining GCS, Dr. Davis served as Assistant Principal at Sullivan Central High School, Principal at Rock Springs Elementary School, Principal at Sullivan North Middle and High School, and founding Principal at West Ridge High School in Sullivan County. Most recently, he has served as Deputy Chief Academic Officer for Washington County Schools. Since 2015, Dr. Davis has also contributed to the development of future educational leaders as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at East Tennessee State University.

Dr. Davis earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, as well as a Master of Education in Elementary Education, from East Tennessee State University. Josh is married to Wendy Davis and is the proud father of two children, Emma (20) and Andrew (13).
